        "Description": "Heliophysics research often requires the use of\n\ta variety of observational and model artifacts to study\n\tprocesses relating to mass and energy transfer across\n\tdifferent heliophysics domains. The Heliophysics Digital\n\tObservatory (HDO) unifies several legacy discipline-oriented\n\theliophysics virtual observatories via a more streamlined and\n\tintuitive middleware system that takes advantage of the Space\n\tPhysics Archive Search and Extract (SPASE) metadata and focuses on\n\tdelivering higher-level data search and discovery\n\tcapabilities beyond those of existing data services. SPASE\n\tmetadata enables HDO to search/discover, locate and access\n\tmulti-disciplinary data and model artifacts simultaneously\n\tfrom distributed repositories. The HDO functionalities\n\tsupporting the NASA Heliophysics science goals are summarized below:\n\t\n\t1) Search, locate, and access multi-disciplinary heliophysics digital\n\tresources (observational and model artifacts) to support research. \n\t\n\t2) Support systems science research by providing simultaneous access\n\tto multi-disciplinary resources for multiple time intervals based \n\ton (a) solar wind and geomagnetic conditions, (b) observing platform\n\tlocations, and (c) phenomenon-based event lists. \n\t\n\t3) The HDO built-in magnetospheric-state query system (MSQS) allows\n\tresource searching by solar wind, IMF and geomagnetic conditions,\n\textreme or otherwise.",
