        "Description": "The NOAA Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) keyparameters are obtained from theEnergetic Particle Sensor (EPS)and the magnetometer (MAG).  Thekey parameters are a subset of the data available from the GOES SpaceEnvironment Monitor (SEM) instruments.The energetic particle fluxes are given as five-minute averaged valuesand the vector magnetic field is givenas one-minute average values.Flux values for three integral electronchannels (E >0.6 MeV, E >2.0 MeV,and E >4.0 MeV) and one differentialproton channel(0.7 MeV < E <4 MeV)are provided. These data are used byNOAA Space Environment Center (SEC)for the real-time monitoring andprediction of the conditions in theEarth's space environment.  A newseries of GOES spacecraft beganwith GOES-8 launched on 4/13/94 andGOES-9 launched on 5/23/95. Typicallytwo satellites are maintainedoperational,one at about 135 degreesgeographic west longitude and one atabout 75 degrees geographic westlongitude.
